Recording is a blast!!!

So, the new Mydols are finally working on a new record with original music for kids and families. We went into the Tempermill for a few hours last week to record. What a blast! It is so fun and creative and interesting recording music. We spent some time with 6 Questions, Dinosaur rock, Hula Twist and Lullaby. The Cd sounds great! We are going to put together a 5 song demo to send out for gigs. We hope to write a few more songs and get back into the studio early next year. We will have a full length record ready by Spring.
Speaking of inspiration and creativity, my very best friend Deanne is working on a project called everyninedays. She has taken on the immense job of recording a Beattles song from the White album every nine days. She plays and records all the music herself ( with a little guidance from her engineer husband). It's pretty groovy.

I am in the research phase of a buisness that focuses on Health and Sustainability issues in Metro Detroit. One idea I had for a networking event was to create a detroit Chapter of this international movement called Green Drinks http://www.greendrinks.org/

The event is an informal gathering of folks that are interested in meeting up to discuss "green" or sustainability topics. I envision it to be an opportunity to network and also build community. It is important for our region to become more aware of the cost and environmental benefits of engaging a more sustainable lifestyle and way of doing business.

We can all do something to help conserve energy and precious resources. Even if ot means turning down the thermostat at night before bed or turning off the water faucet while brushing teeth or lights off when not in a room. Small steps make a huge difference!

Best moments of 2008

Wow, another year gone and a new one just beginning- how time flies! We are in the midst of milestones at my house. My baby (he's 2 and a half ) just moved out of a crib into a big boy bed and is potty training. My middle son (7) lost his first 2 teeth and my oldest will be hitting double digits (he'll be 10) next month. As I look back on 2008 I am amamzed and a little bewildered at all that went on.
My top 10 in no particular order:

Celebratiing 10 years of marriage
Being accepted into Bizdom U
Joining the Mydols

Family trip to the Cayman Islands
4th of July in Minneapolis
The beach in Port Austin
Singing w/ the Aprons @ Mammapazooza

Finally baptising Rowen
Todd's wedding in Nashville

Great wolf Lodge

A day in the life

Ok- so it's Tuesday around 6:21 pm and I'm fianlly sitting down to write ( husband took all 3 kids to practice). I was just going over my day and sometimes I am amazed at what I do and what we all do as mothers.

  • Up at 7am grab quick sip of coffee

  • change laundry around

  • Wake up kids and help get dressed

  • breakfast for boys

  • make lunches

  • go through folders, sign stuff, fill out school forms etc.

  • get kids in car

  • get self dressed

  • gather gear and head out the door 8:30am

  • Spend the day at BizdomU (entreprenuerial boot camp)

  • Home by 3:30

  • put groceries away that are left in the middle of kitchen( husband home w/ baby, went grocery shopping- left stuff out)

  • change laundry around

  • fill out raffle tickets for school, thank you cards write checks

  • help w/ homework

  • cook dinner /make lunches

  • see kids off to soccer practice (help w/ unifoprms, fill water bottles and find team snack)

  • clean-up dinner

All this and I'm only about 1/3 of the way done. How do we do it!?! Am I bitching or just venting or just plain flabbergasted-You tell me.

World Hoop Day 2008
